With the signing of the sponsorship pre-agreement between representatives of Chile’s Pavilion at Expo Shanghai 2010 and Compañía Pisquera de Chile, a CCU subsidiary, both institutions agree to the terms for collaborating in the World Expo.
Santiago, 18 August. Chile’s Commissioner General to Expo Shanghai 2010, Hernán Somerville, and the General Manager of Compañía Pisquera de Chile S.A, Álvaro Fernández, signed today a sponsorship pre-agreement for Chile’s Pavilion at Expo Shanghai 2010.
The agreement is part of the country’s commitment to the success of Chile’s project at Expo Shanghai 2010 which will once again require the collaboration of the public and private sectors.
The agreement is part of Compañía Pisquera de Chile S.A.’s promotional strategy for its exports to the Asia-Pacific region. The goal is to have Chile’s Pavilion serve as a platform for promoting the products of this CCU subsidiary in China and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
By serving as a sponsor, Compañía Pisquera de Chile S.A. will have special access to Chile’s Pavilion and use of its facilities. Its logo will be included in the public relations campaign employed for the Expo, and the company may use Chile’s Expo Shanghai 2010 logo in its own promotional materials as an official sponsor. It can also organize presentations, exhibits, promotions, seminars, and trade presentations and invite its clients and business contacts to official Pavilion events.
The Commissioner General said he was pleased with the agreement, pointing out, “the Pavilion is a great opportunity to promote Chile and our export products”. He also congratulated the decision made by CCU and its subsidiary, Compañía Pisquera de Chile, to sponsor Chile’s Pavilion. He added that Chile’s Pavilion will be an advantageous, six-month platform for exhibiting and raising the visibility of Chilean products, especially “Chilean Pisco” which is an emblematic product of our country.
The general manager of Compañía Pisquera de Chile S.A. stated that “this agreement is a great step toward inserting Chilean Pisco into enormous markets such as China and Southeast Asia. As a company, it is an honor to participate in this challenge. This year our total exports will grow 71%, with Asia contributing 19% of this total. We see the participation of Compañía Pisquera in Expo Shanghai as a wonderful opportunity to triple pisco sales outside Chile over the next two years.”
China is Chile’s second-largest trade partner. In 2008, trade between the two countries surpassed the US$16 billion mark.
