With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, the two parties agreed to terms of collaboration for promoting Chile’s exhibit in Shanghai.
Santiago, 16 September. By virtue of a memorandum of understanding signed today by Chile’s Commissioner General for Expo Shanghai 2010, Hernán Somerville, the director of the Servicio Nacional de Turismo (National Tourism Service, or Sernatur), Oscar Santelices, and the general manager of Turismo Chile, Pablo Moll, Sernatur and Turismo Chile have agreed to be official sponsors of Chile’s Pavilion at Expo Shanghai 2010.
The agreement upholds the Asia-Pacific region as one of Chile’s priorities when it comes to attracting foreign investment and demonstrates that Expo Shanghai presents an important opportunity to establish diplomatic, commercial, economic, cultural, and investment ties between Chile and the Asia-Pacific region in general and China in particular.
With this in mind, the country has made a commitment to the success of Chile’s project for Expo Shanghai 2010, a project which will once again require public-private collaboration.
Thus, Sernatur and Turismo Chile will undertake a series of actions to strengthen Chile’s exhibit. Activities such as conferences, exhibits, presentations, and meetings will be organized for Chile’s Pavilion. The two organizations will also provide promotional materials for the Pavilion and include Chile´s Expo Shanghai 2010 logo and a link from their websites.
By virtue of this memorandum, the logos of Sernatur and Turismo Chile will be included in the public relations materials and plan for the Pavilion. As official sponsors, they will be able to use Chile’s logo for Expo Shanghai 2010 and use the Patagonia-Atacama Room of the Pavilion for events to promote Chile as a destination for foreign investment and a platform for business between Asia and Latin America. They will also have the opportunity to invite clients and business contacts to official events at the Pavilion.
