As you know, in Chile we have suffered an earthquake that is classified as one of the 5 most intense earthquakes in recorded history, wreaking destruction on many parts of our country.
Chile’s history is one in which our people have faced the terrible force of Nature present according to our geology, and this has shaped our character. Humbly we begin the tasks of reconstruction, certain that with learned fortitude we will recover once again.
We are grateful for the concern and aid that countries from each continent have offered so generously. We confirm that our plans for a successful participation in the Expo Shanghai 2010 are moving ahead. We are going about the Chilean project with the enthusiasm and dedication that our fellow citizens deserve, and we seek to encourage those who have suffered most in the earthquake by representing their spirit in this very important global event.
